Everyone has experienced setbacks in his life. Whether you’ve received a pink slip or you’ve split up with your couple it’s hard to overcome those situations in life. You start overthinking and worrying too much.

Something like that happened to me recently. I was fired from my job in a grocery store with the explanation:

‘’I don’t like how you are working, I’m paying way too much for the ineffective work you do. I’ll have to dismiss you, sorry.’’

In other words, my former boss told me I wasn’t good enough for the easiest job possible. Imagine what kind of thoughts were going through my head at this moment. Thoughts like:

“If I can’t work this simple job, how I’m going to get my life on the path I’ve always wanted to, I’m going to fail throughout my whole life …”.

Same as any other person I’ve started to google all those questions that I had in the search for answers to my problems.

Dwelling is the worst thing you could do with yourself in situations like this one. Thankfully, by the power given to us from the internet, I can share with you some ways to stop dwelling.

1.Never keep all the dwelling and negativity inside of you, get it out.

Whether it is going to be by journaling, sharing it to your best friend or parents, the option to keep everything in your own head is a formula for a worst-case scenario.

Have you ever heard the phrase “You reap what you sow”?

Well, that’s exactly what is happening with you. If you let that seed of dwell and worry stay in your head, you are going to reap only setbacks. So the best solution here is to throw this dangerous seed, isn’t it?

2.Try New Things

In my case, that’s what helped me the most. I was thinking that this work gives me security and that I would be happy with the life I’ve created for myself.

The harsh truth is it was completely the opposite. If you don’t start putting a different approach in every aspect of your life you’ll continue to live the same miserable life you’ve had before.

Do something new, start reading about some new field you’ve never known anything about in the past. You never know what will spark the endless desire in you to know more and get better.

Never let your mind sleep and get accustomed to a particular routine. We are born with the inner ability to adapt to every situation, even the worst one and get out of them stronger than ever.

Unfortunately, people stop searching for new experiences, especially the uncomfortable ones with the biggest gains in future.

3.Realise this is a sign from the universe you deserve better

Instead of looking at hardships from a bad viewpoint try to think of it in this way:

“This is giving me a lesson which I have to learn from.”

Look at it from the third person, realise that not everything is only black or white, there will always be a bright side. You’ll have to calm your mind and see the things from an objective view.

Once you calm yourself you’ll be able to see the hidden blessings the universe is sending you so you can get your life in the path that you want.

Final Thoughts

Dwelling is a clear sign you need a change in your life. Whether it’s your mindset, lifestyle, work environment it’s dangerous for your health.

You should take control of the situation by applying those three principles as soon as you feel the urge to self-pity yourself.

That way you could finally wake up in the morning with the desire to work your job, get better at what you do and live your life on your terms.
